Far better it is to dare mighty things.
To win glorious triumphs,
even though checkered by failures.

Than to rank with those poor spirits,
who neither suffer much nor enjoy much
'Cause they live in the gray twilight that knows neither victory nor defeat

Licking thy wounds...

312 days to ORD: accurate as of 120905: 0000hrs

And not to forget one of my good poly mate's birthday: Desmond
Bro...HAPPY 21st...Everyday is a day closer to ORD!!

Evening pple..I have decided to write up my blog tonight, while the memories are fresh in my mind and the pain fresh in my limbs...

Today on 091105...we had the AHM run...a confounded 21.1km..
Thousands upon thousands of people where there today...I thought they were kidding when they said that if we didn't reach the start point early, it would take us 15-25mins to reach there while the crowd clears....but woo whee..at the start line at 0545, i jumped to take a look see behind...and the crowd was....was...basically we were like ants...I pity the guy in the middle of that crowd..
And as my friend "jumbo" said "Now i know why they don't do warm ups..they are getting warmed up right now.."...Seriously, no kidding..I was at the front and it was HOT...

Keepin in mind that I had a busted right knee before we ran...
The running was fine..I like long runs..just hate the short distance sprints...
Anyway, I knew coming back from the run, I'd be in for one mother load of pain...considering the last time I ran was a 12km 1 1/2 mths back....after that it was the course which killed my knees....

Anyway, back to the run...it was dark when we ran, and the only people crazy enough or pathetic enough to be forced into running was...the SAF!!! I tried to keep it slow considering my knees were injured...run run run run run run...it was all pretty fun once we got used to it.. Soon enough I passed the 12km mark..and my timing was 1hr 15mins..I almost flipped....the last time I ran that distance was 57mins...DANG IT!!..It was friggin aggravating...I knew I could run ALOT faster...but if I did that, unless hell froze over..my knees would collapse under me before I even hit the 21km mark....I ran along side our CO for awhile, his pace was really comfortable for me until the knees started actin up again...bummer..by now at this pace, the run was neverending, and to add up to the problems, my left knee, left foot and lower started acting up...(my left foot is flat footed, right is fine)...if you forgot, I had an earlier post titled "I AM FALLING APART" that stated all my injuries... the run was starting to get agonizing...
By the time I hit the 18km mark, I was ready to KO..but damn this young chick from NTU running club or something ran past me and there was NO WAY IN HELL was I going to let her beat me to the finish line..busted knees or not. And by jolly I DID IT!!! I increased the pace for remaining 3km...at the 1km mark, the distance was demarkated every 100m..Never before has a 100m seemed so long before...900...huff puff...800....huff puff...700..huffffiinnn...puffiinn...
600m..my encik was there and went..."Oi!! Your late"..huff puff...500...400...was ready to crash...300...ARGH!!!...200..this girl caught up and I was pushing...100m..Never before has the 6 letter word "FINISH" been displayed in such royal bliss...Somehow or another I managed to sprint the last 100m to the end..

At the end point..by the way I felt, I knew a world of pain was coming even before the muscle cramps and stuff started....I couldn't even walk, stand or move properly...
And believe me even as I sit here now typing away, by the time I am done and stand up, I will sqeal like a pig givin birth....hold on..lemme test............Oh yeah..pig squealing all right....

Okie doke, I gotta pack to get back to camp tonight...wednesday outfield..No idea how I am going to survive it with legs like this.....

Ah ha...hey anthony, remember the day we started training for army..you took me two rounds around the stadium for 800ms and I came really really close to flipping?? Haha..those were good days man... Never imagined I would run 21.1km..

I"M GROWING OLD!!!!
